Scenario
Retired Charles gets a new lease on life when he answers a private investigator’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home
Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “Agent Mole.” He says, “The power of “Agent Mole” is that it makes people of all ages, ethnicities, and genders feel something very similar, and I would describe that feeling in a very understated way, like, ‘I need to call my mom.’” We tried to do something similar with our show’s tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of calling our moms?
It’s a remake of El agente topo (2020)
I’m not a fan of binge-watching, but we devoured the entire season on the first night.
It has the right mix of warm, funny, sad, deep, with a story that keeps you engaged
Ted Danson is great of course, but Stephanie Beatrice (Diaz in ’99) is great, and her character is someone you want to spend all your time with.
A solid eight out of ten for me, one for all ages, and who knows, hopefully another season
It’s set in San Francisco, which of course helps with my rating, but above all, while it’s very sad at times, it’s a comedy and it gives me hope for the future as we all age.
